More info
A large, double sided, porcelain enamel sign from the 1930s advertising Esso Ethyl.
Diameter: 30" (76cm)
Red, white and blue
Some enamel loss.
Ninety years ago Esso Ethyl was advertised in The Glasgow Herald, May 19, 1939, as "The nearest thing to flying".
It's performance convinced motorists of its outstanding value. "The oval globe pumps are busy these days. Goodbye to muffled pinking and labouring engines"
